    What has been even more fun has been sharing our approach to family and careers. He is too modest to tell you, but his rise is improbable and inspiring.

    It all started with a question - I notice that your father's passing was a touchstone for you. How so?

    I learned Dr. Malik's father emigrated to the UK from Pakistan and worked as a bus driver. Dr. Malik defied the odds (and his own self-doubts) to attend Cambridge and become a leading physician.

    After his father's death, Dr. Malik had countless people come to his door and offer to pay back funds that his father (a man of very modest means) had always provided to others in need.

    If you wonder why UKIO has an active scholarship program for promising global healthcare providers who can't afford the conference, you can thank the vision and legacy of Dr. Malik and by extension his father.

    • Group Mentorship allows similar opportunities alongside sharing learning with a cohort of like-minded individuals. Whilst it doesn’t offer 1:1 engagement, it is a more affordable option and also includes discounts on all workshop resources
